Elizabeth Libby Achilles Lovejoy

Mrs. Elizabeth "Libby" (Sargent) Achilles Lovejoy of Melrose died Saturday, March 3, 2007 in the Wingate at Reading Senior Center following a period of declining health. She was 97 years old.

Mrs. Lovejoy was born October 13, 1909 in Everett, daughter of the late Kilby P. Sargent and Edith (Marks) Sargent.

Libby graduated from Melrose High School in 1927 and was a Melrose resident for over 40 years. She spent thirteen years at the Faelten Pianoforte School, graduating from its College course in 1930. For many years, Libby worked in sales and supervising for Fanny Farmer Candies Inc.. In Melrose, she was best known as a piano teacher, and had been teaching in Melrose for over 30 years. She was a long-time member of the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church and past President and member of the Women's Guild of the Church.She was also past president of the Plus 60 Club, a member of the 200 Club, the Historical Society and the AARP.

Libby was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence E. Lovejoy and William Achilles. Loving mother of the late William S. Achilles. Devoted sister of the late Marguerite Hurley. Dear aunt of Walter "Ted" E. Hurley of Peabody. Great aunt of Jessica Hurley of NV. Cousin of Barbara Norton of Chelmsford, William A. Norton of Westford, Betty Crosley of CA, and Willard Fowler of FL.
