Eng Gwong Chin, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at age 99.
He was born on November 17, 1913 in China.He was the owner/operator of Main Street Laundry in Melrose for many years.
He was the beloved husband of the late Sui K. (Wong) Chin. Devoted father of Jahm Chin and his wife Su Sheng of Melrose, Yu Hsia Ma and her husband Ying Sheng Ma of Wayland, Jue Chin and his wife Joanna of Saugus, and the late Dick Chan and his wife Rosita Chan of Moorpark, CA.Dear brother of Yut Mah of Stockton, CA.Loving grandfather of Edward Chin and his wife Lu of Saugus, Fay Seto and her husband Mike of Saugus, Bandy Chin and his wife Kimberly of Ipswich, Chun Yan Ma and her husband Greg Kwan of Framingham, Qun Qun Ma and his wife Alice of Braintree, Kim Choi and her husband Peter of Wayland, Sylvia Chin of Melrose, Alexander Chin and his wife Rebekah of Melrose, Alcina Quach and her husband Hai of Quincy, Robert Chan of Moorpark, CA, Cecilia Chan of AZ, and Nancy Chan and her husband Bill Murphy of Irvine, CA. Also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Eng's life by gathering during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, September 26 from 6-8 PM, and again on Friday morning for his Funeral Service celebrated at 10 AM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
