Mr. Ercoli A. "Tony" Spinale, of Melrose, passed away on Wednesday evening July 30, 2008 at Kindred Hospital in Peabody following a period of declining health.

Tony, affectionately known as "Arco" to family members,was born April 12, 1929 in Ithaca, NY a son of the late Giuseppe Spinale and Anna (Tringalli) Spinale.

Tony worked in the produce department at Hilltop Steak House, retiring in 1991.He had previously worked at various produce markets in Massachusetts and California and was the owner and operator of A & M Sign Co. which produced supermarket window signs.He was a long time member of Austin Square Baptist Church in Lynn and loved to travel.

Tony will be long remembered by his family and friends for his great sense of humor, delicious cooking, extreme generosity, and strong affection for his beloved family.

Tony was the beloved husband of Gaetana (Orsino) Spinale, devoted father of Ann G. Barr and her husband, Rusty of Wakefield and Marie C. Jackson and her husband, Paul of Woburn.Cherished grandfather of Michelle Barr of Wakefield and Ree Russell of Colorado. Loving great-grandfather of Elizabeth Barr of Wakefield and Samuel Russell of Colorado.Dear brother of Sera Pirone, Constantino Spinale and Eleanor Spinale all of San Francisco, CA, Robert Spinale of CA and the late Olympia Belyea.Also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.
