Mrs. Ethel (McLaughlin) Kisil, of Woburn and formerly of Revere, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2014 in Norwell at age 95.
Ethel was born on April 24, 1918 in Chelsea, one of two children of the late Daniel and Mabel (Rosenberger) McLaughlin.Raised in Revere, Ethel graduated from Revere High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, William Mercier.They lived in Revere for several years, and raised their two daughters in Saugus.
Ethel was gifted with artistic talent.She enjoyed crafts, sewing, painting, crocheting, and playing the piano and organ.She also loved travelling and being near the ocean.She loved living on Revere beach for several years, and spending time during the winter months in Venice, Florida.She enjoyed many cruises to the Bahamas, travelling with friends and family throughout Europe, and loved the beach.
A woman of strong faith, Ethel was a parishioner of St. Barbara's Church in Woburn for many years.She was a member of the "Thursday Night Club" which was a weekly gathering of her Revere High School friends who remained close to her heart until the end.She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Kisil and William Mercier.Devoted mother of Carol Bugbee of E. Sandwich, and Jeanne Goodwin and her husband Richard of Billerica.Dear sister of the late Joseph McLaughlin.Cherished grandmother of Janice Goodwin, Suzanne Wensky, John Bugbee and Scott Bugbee.Loving great-grandmother of Chase and Reid.Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Ethel's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, January 14 from 4-7 PM, and again on Wednesday at 10AM before leaving in procession to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
