Ethel M. Shields
She was born in Newburyport, MA on October 22, 1924, daughter of the late Dudley Bragg and Evelyn (Lewis) Bragg.
Ethel was raised in Southborough and graduated from Peters High School in 1944. She had been a resident of Melrose since 1961 and she was a devoted and loving foster mother to more than 300 children.Mrs. Shields was a long-time member of the Church of the Nazarene in Melrose.
Ethel was the beloved wife of 57 years to George M. Shields.Devoted and loving mother of George B. Shields and Jennifer A. Shields, both of Melrose, Donna Riggs of Summerville, SC, Susan DeStefano of Centerville, James M. Shields of Everett, Joseph Catalano of Lynn, Helen Enwright of NY, Ruth Flannery of Arlington and Carol Skane of Scituate.Sister of Gladys Jones of North Reading, Florence Gray of Marlboro and the late Henry Bragg and Edna Courtemanche.Also survived by 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
