Evelyn M. (Thomas) Accorto, a resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at age 88.

Evelyn was born in Cambridge on June 28, 1932, one of eight children of the late Manuel and Helen (Gagnon) Thomas. Raised and educated in East Cambridge, she married the late Pat Accorto in 1954, and they made their home in Somerville with generations of the Accorto family. From a young age, family was at the core of Evelyn's life. After 25 years of marriage, Evelyn was confronted with the tragic loss of her husband Pat, and the challenging task of raising her two children while working. For many years, Evelyn worked as a mail room supervisor in Boston for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.Evelyn never let an obstacle deter her, and continually cared for her family throughout all.

Evelyn took great pride in her motherly and grandmotherly duties. She found pleasure in cleaning, ironing, and cooking to provide the perfect home for family. Evelyn was famous for searching for gifts nearly every day for her family and was always able to find a bargain. She was also well known for a love of scratch tickets, and enjoyed surprising her family with scratch tickets after family dinners. A loving grandmother, she also took delight in card games and movies with her grandchildren.

Evelyn will be greatly missed, but her dedication and loyalty to family will be her lasting legacy.

Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late Pat M. Accorto with whom she shared 25 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Karla Cerulle and her husband Anthony of Wakefield, and Carl Accorto and his wife Susan of Epping, NH. Predeceased by her siblings, Joseph Thomas, Francis Thomas, Helen Sousa, Arthur Thomas, Marie Masci, Madeline Lomonaco, and Margaret Miano. Cherished nana of Michael and Danielle Accorto, Karla Accorto, Joseph Cerulle, James Cerulle, and great nana to Jack Accorto. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Monday, April 12 from 9am-11:15am before leaving in procession for her Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 12pm. All attendees are respectfully asked to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and pay their respects and exit the Funeral Home promptly to allow other guests to enter. A limited number of guests will be allowed in the funeral home at one time.Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. If you wish, contributions in Evelyn's memory may be made to St Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield MA 01880.
