Evelyn F. (Martin) DiNitto, resident of Melrose, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington. She was 83.
Born in Lowell on January 24, 1940, Evelyn was one of six children of the late Daniel and Ruth (Riddock) Martin. She was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School.
She met and later married Raymond DiNitto. They first settled in Revere before moving to Melrose with their family of four daughters.
Evelyn was active in the PTO in both Revere and Melrose and enjoyed knitting, reading, and listening to the music of Frank Sinatra and Barbara Streisand. She loved Broadway musicals and keeping in touch with her friends.
Evelyn was the wife of the late Raymond DiNitto with whom she shared 41 years of marriage. Mother of Rebecca LeSaffre and her husband Peter of Saugus, Rachel DiNitto and her husband Niels Miller of OR, Jennifer Shanbhag and her husband Manish of CT, and Elizabeth McLean and her husband Greg of Melrose. Sister of Donald Martin, Ruth Johnson, Daniel Martin, the late Hugh Titterington, and the late Charles Titterington. Grandmother of Matthew and Olivia LeSaffre, Elias Miller, Sofie and Serena Shanbhag, and Declan and Mason McLean.
