Mrs. Evelyn (Scarborough) Smith, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Melrose, at age 92.
Evelyn was born on March 16, 1921 in Malden, daughter of the late Ralph H. and Alice (Dickson) Scarborough.She was raised and educated in Melrose where she graduated from Melrose High School in 1939.She worked in ladies apparel sales for the Boston Leader Store in Malden for many years.Evelyn was a member of Kappa Delta Psi, AARP Melrose Chapter, and St. Paul's Church in Malden where she was a member of the St. Anne's Guild.She loved to read and was a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late Frederick A. Smith Jr. with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Loving mother of Lawrence A. Smith and his wife Cheryl of Wakefield, and Nancy J.Beaudet and her husband Bob of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of Jeffrey L. Smith and his wife Susan of Salem, NH, Todd A. Beaudet of Melrose, and Scott R. Beaudet and his wife Joellen of Melrose. Cherished great grandmother of George L. Smith and Jack M. Smith both of Salem, NH, John R. Beaudet, Christopher A. Beaudet, Zachary E. Beaudet, and Magen R. Beaudet all of Melrose.
