Flora C. Albano, a retired secretary in the Department of Public Works for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, died Sunday night October 11, 2009 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital following a period of declining health.She was 94 years old.Flora was born on October 5, 1915 in East Boston, daughter of the late Giovanni DeLuca and Maria S. (Fratta) DeLuca.She was raised and educated in East Boston and worked as a Secretary in the Dept. of Public Works for 13 years.Flora loved sewing, flowers, her cat Trixie, and was an amazing cook.Well known for having a sweet-tooth, Flora loved chocolate and was famous for baking her Italian cookies for the entire family. Flora was the beloved wife of the late Genaro with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.Loving mother of Geri Costanza of Marblehead and Fred Albano of Melrose. Dear sister of the late Babe DeLuca, Mario DeLuca and Michael DeLuca. . Cherished grandmother of Ben Costanza and Natasha Waden and her husband David of Melrose.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Thursday October 15 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in honor and remembrance of Flora in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
