Francis W. "Frank" Murphy of Peabody, formerly of Melrose, passed away early Monday morning March 31, 2008 in the Renaissance Gardens of Brooksby Village in Peabody. He was 95 years old.
Frank was born October 3, 1912 in Boston, a son of William Murphy and Gertrude (Bethel) Murphy.
Frank was a 50 year resident of Melrose and more recently of Brooksby Village in Peabody.He was raised in East Boston and was a self-employed printing salesman.An avid golfer, he was a 41 year member of Bellevue Golf Club.Frank was well known for being a comedian and humorously performed for many local groups over the years.For the last 30 years, Frank and his wife, Helen, spent the winters in Boca Raton and Barefoot Bay, Florida.
He was the beloved husband of Helen (Melchionno) Murphy with whom he shared 68 years of loving marriage.Devoted father of Kenneth F. Murphy and his wife, Rosemary of Freeport, ME, Richard A. Murphy and his wife Elaine of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, Michael A. Murphy of Rowley and the late Janet Angela Murphy.Dear brother of Mae Roan of Peabody, the late Joe Murphy and Ralph Murphy.Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
