Francis E. "Frank" Robbins

Francis E. “Frank” Robbins, long time resident of Melrose, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the age of 97.  He was born on January 15, 1927, one of four children of the late George and Margaret (Hurley) Robbins.  He grew up in Melrose, where he attended Melrose Schools and developed deep roots within the community.

Frank served with pride in the United States Army showing unwavering commitment and a strong sense of honor.

Frank worked as a cook, eventually retiring from the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Music was a deep passion for Frank, particularly country music. He could often be found playing his favorite tunes on his stereo, and trips to Nashville brought him immense joy as he immersed himself in the heart of country music. Traveling around New England was another source of joy for Frank. He loved exploring the picturesque landscapes and quaint towns that his home region had to offer.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

A devoted sports enthusiast, Frank was a fanatical supporter of the Boston Red Sox. He cheered for his beloved team through their successes and struggles, displaying his unwavering loyalty and dedication.

He will be deeply missed.

Frank was the loving brother of Charles Robbins and his wife Cheryl of Lynn, Mary Ellen Buckley of Rochester, NH, and the late George Robbins, Jr., and his late wife Elaine. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and his special friend and caregiver, Nada Charles.

Family and friends are invited to gather in honor of Frank’s life during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Sunday, Feb. 11 from 2-5pm, and again on Monday at 9am before leaving in procession to Incarnation Church, 429 Upham St., Melrose, for his Funeral Mass celebrated at 10am.
