Mr. Frank A. Johnson, of Wakefield, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Brooksby Village Renaissance Gardens in Peabody.He was 88 years old. Mr. Johnson was born on October 11, 1921 in Lynn, a son of the late Hugo G. Johnson and Frances E. (Snowden) Johnson.Frank was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn High School.He worked as a tool and die machinist at the General Electric Riverworks plant in Lynn and for Sylvania.Frank proudly served his country in the US Air Force during World War II and was one of the last remaining members of the famous "Flying Tigers."An avid square dancer, Frank along with his wife Grace, enjoyed dancing as often as three or four times a week together. He loved visiting his summer cottage on West Pond in Parsonsfield, Maine, where he also served as the local Road Commissioner.He and his wife were longtime members of Glendale United Methodist Church in Everett.Frank will be dearly missed by all.
He was the beloved husband of Grace C. (Hartman) Johnson with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.Father of Christine E. Teague of Sanford, ME, and the late Frank and Charles.Brother of the late Charlotte Agnew, Esther Dwyer, and Lawrence Johnson.Grandfather of Kimberley Anderson of Northwood, NH, Charles Anderson of Kingston, NH and Jeremy Teague of Sanford, ME.Great grandfather of Stone K. Anderson.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service at the First United Methodist Church, 645 Main St., Melrose, Monday, December 21 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
