Frederick T. Beshong
Born in Melrose on February 2, 1934, he was one of three children of the late Earl T. Beshong and Yvonne T. (Ramsey) Beshong.
Fred was raised and educated in Melrose. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years from 1951 to 1974.A Tech Sergeant, Fred served in the Vietnam and Korean War.After retiring from the Air Force, he became a Firefighter for 20 years.He was stationed at Scott AFB in Illinois, Fort Campbell in Kentucky, and lastly Hanscom AFB in Massachusetts.After many years of dedicated service, Fred returned to Melrose where he was raised.He was the past commander of Melrose VFW Post #2394 and a member of the American Legion Post #90.
Beloved husband of the late F. Marlene (Waggoner) Beshong with whom he shared 30 years of marriage.Former husband of the late Julia Beshong.Loving father of Victoria S. Beshong, Richard J. Beshong, and Jim Beshong, all of England.Dear step-father of Doug Lindsay of Granite City, IL and Mark A. Mercer of Collinsville, IL.Devoted brother of Adrienne B. Guyette of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Earl T. Beshong, Jr. of Rye, NH.Loving grandfather of Michael and Jack Beshong.
Relatives and friends will gather to remember and honor Fred's life on Tuesday, December 20 for visiting hours from 4-8 PM at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St, Melrose and on Wednesday morning at the First United Methodist Church, 645 Main St., Melrose where his Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10 AM.
