Mr. George T. Haley, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away in his 92nd year, on Thursday evening, June 16, 2011 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

George was born on June 23, 1919 in Walpole, Maine, one of five children of the late Earl Haley and Velma (Pitcher) Haley.

George was raised and educated in Walpole, Maine.He worked as a truck mechanic for several companies over many years.Mr. Haley was a big Boston Red Sox fan who loved watching the games.He was also an avid walker and enjoyed walking around Melrose almost every day.

He was the beloved husband of Eva (Rice) Haley with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.Devoted father of George E. Haley and his wife Ginny of Haverhill, Gregory E. Haley and his wife Eileen of Nashua, NH, Barry W. Haley and his wife Gayle of Middleton, Barbara A. Wells and her husband Frank of Melrose, Michael Haley of Winchester, and Allan Haley of Concord, NH.Dear brother of Harriet Hibbard of Portland, ME, and the late Henry Haley, Velma Gilbert, and Lillian Reed.Cherished grandfather of Sheryl Haley, Lisa Santasusso, Karen Belanger, Kenneth Haley, Matt Haley, Danny Haley, Katy Wells, Nicholas Wells, Michael Haley, and Sara Layton.Loving great grandfather of Anthony, Lenny, Cassidy, Meghan and Joel.

Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, June 22 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
