Mr. George L. Maidrand, Jr., of Hillsborough, New Hampshire formerly of Stoneham, Reading and Melrose, in his 103rd year, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday December 30, 2010 after a period of declining health.
George was born on February 4, 1908 in Melrose, the son of the late George L. Maidrand and Edna R. (Bucknam) Maidrand.
He worked for 30 years for the MBTA as a truck driver in the wire division.He had lived in Stoneham, Reading and in Melrose for 60 years before moving to New Hampshire to be closer to his family. He was the oldest living resident in Hilllsborough, NH and an avid Red Sox and Yankee fan. He was well known in the Melrose area for his painting and wallpapering skills.Mr. Maidrand was a member of the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church.
George was the beloved husband of the late Eunice E. (Chase) Maidrand with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Devoted father of Lee Maidrand of Hillsborough, NH, David A. Maidrand and his wife Nancy of Shrewsbury, and Susan E. Levesque and her husband Jim of Hilton Head, SC.Dear father-in-law of Maureen Maidrand of Springfield, VT and brother of the late Edna Martin, Robert and Victor Maidrand. He was the cherished grandfather of Wheeler Maidrand, T.J. Maidrand, Laurie Army, Craig Maidrand, Meredith Pit, Melissa Chase Levesque and Mehgan Levesque. Cherished great grandfather of Matthew, Hannah, Zachary, Noah, Aaron and Ella.
