Mr. George A. Morehouse, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday evening, October 24, 2012, at the age of 86.
George was born in Cambridge on February 5, 1926, one of three children of the late Edgar R. Morehouse and Caroline (Silva) Morehouse.He was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School, Class of 1944.He served aboard vessels in the Atlantic during World War II in the Merchant Marine.
A longtime carpenter by trade, George was a member of the Carpenters Local #218 for many years.He loved sports and cars.Years ago, he was a member of the New York Yankees Farm Club but was still a passionate supporter of his beloved Boston Red Sox.He enjoyed watching all sports, especially the local sports teams.
George was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn M. (Miles) Morehouse.Devoted father of Janet E. Morehouse of Winchester.Dear brother of the late Charles Morehouse and Edna Hayes-Carpenter.Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of George's life for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Saturday, October 27 from 2-6 PM, and again for his Funeral Service celebrated on Sunday at 9:00 AM.Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
