Mrs. Gladys V. (Sheppard) Keefe, a Woburn resident and formerly of Melrose and Palm Bay, FL, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Winchester Hospital. She was 89 years old.
Mrs. Keefe was born on November 3, 1920 in Chelsea, a daughter of the late Frederick Sheppard and Mabel (Rholand) Sheppard.Gladys was raised in Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School.For many years, she lived in Melrose and was an active member of Trinity Church.Mrs. Keefe loved embroidering, enjoyed reading and traveling with her late husband, William H. Keefe, III.An avid Boston Red Sox fan, she was especially fond of third baseman, Mike Lowell.
Gladys was the beloved wife of the late William H. Keefe, III with whom she shared 46 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Florence M. Keefe of Woburn and Joyce K. Groves and her husband Kenneth of Indian Trail, NC.Dear sister of Phyllis K. Moore of Palm Bay, FL and the late Florence Sheppard, Marguerite Espinola, Frederick "Buddy" Sheppard Jr., Edna Sheppard, Harris Sheppard, and Elsie Sheppard.Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service at Trinity Church, 131 W. Emerson St., Melrose, Tuesday, December 15 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Monday from 4 - 8 PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery.
