Mrs. Gladys B. (Stone) Kelloway, of Saugus and formerly a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, at the age of 82.

Gladys was born on January 24, 1930 in Malden, one of four children of the late Harold W. and Ruth E. (Hargraves) Stone.

Raised and educated in Malden, Gladys worked as a hairdresser for many years in Melrose.In her youth, she worked at Jocelyn's Department Store in the credit office and later in life worked at Wellwood in Melrose as a night manager.

Mrs. Kelloway was a longtime volunteer for the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital Auxiliary where she worked in the Gift Shop, and helped manage the Volunteer Office for a period of time.Her family will always remember her love of crocheting, and the beautiful afghans that she made.

Mrs. Kelloway is survived her beloved husband of 63 years, George R. Kelloway, Sr. of Saugus; her children, Ron "Blue" Kelloway and his wife Ruth of Exeter, NH, Laura P. Kelloway and her companion Jack of Abington, and David S. Kelloway, Sr. and his wife Mary of Epsom, NH.Dear sister of Ruth Racine of Lynn, and the late Ellen McGrath and Pauline Maraga.Cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Gladys for a Graveside Service at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St., Melrose on Friday, March 16 at 10:00 AM.Gifts in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
