Mr. Harold R. "Chet" Chetwynd of Melrose died Sunday, June 3, 2007 in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital following a period of declining health. He was 82 years old.
Mr. Chetwynd was born March 4, 1925 in Melrose, son of the late Frederick E.O. Chetwynd and Effie (Nickerson) Chetwynd.
Harold was born and raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of the VFW Sgt. Harold O. Young, Post 2394. He was a member of the Fidelity Lodge AF+AM and the Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington. He worked as a Heating Technician for Benson Goss for 38 years. He loved gardening, boating and especially his 2 cats. He was known by many as a "jack-of-all-trades" because of his ability to fix just about everything.
He was the beloved husband of Jessie L. "Penney" Chetwynd.Loving father of Donna J. Parsons of Wakefield and Wayne R. Chetwynd of Melrose. Father in law of the late Richard E. Parsons.Brother of James of Melrose, Mildred Keohan of Salem, NH, and the late Kenneth, Fred, George, Evelyn Martino, Myrtle Wile, and Ruby Wilson. Cherished grandfather of Heather J. Parsons of Lowell and Scott E. Parsons of Wakefield. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
