Harold G. Fiebig, longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. He was 94.
Harold was born in Steinkirchen, Germany, on January 3, 1927. Growing up on a farm, he developed a love of the animals, and the skills necessary to fix almost anything around the home.
He came to the United States in the early 1950's becoming a US Citizen in 1957. He married his beloved Dorothy Likely, and they settled in Melrose.
Harold was a devoted husband and father who led by example. He was exceptionally active in the lives of his family, and they have many great memories of their time with him. He worked as a foreman at Tucker Concrete and Forms in Malden for many years and was a proud lifetime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
Harold enjoyed traveling, visiting such places as his home in Germany, particularly for Oktoberfest, Switzerland, the Epcot Center in Florida, and spending summers at their vacation home in Washington, New Hampshire. He also took great joy in dancing, watching soccer and cheering on his favorite teams in Germany and spending time with his cat Lulu.
Always available to help at home, a friend, or neighbor in need, he could be found working on repair and improvement projects around the house, tending to his flower and vegetable gardens, and helping his family and friends with any projects they needed help with. He also would give them rides to appointments and patiently wait for them to return them home.
Harold loved a good meal, and he was the first to the car when anyone mentioned going out to eat. He enjoyed his sweets as well.
Harold was a kind soul willing to take the time to help those in need, be it family members or friends. His wisdom, can- do attitude, and warmth will be missed.
Harold was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy E. (Likely) Fiebig with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Devoted father of Lynn Fiebig and Nancy Fiebig, both of Melrose.
Services for Harold will be private.
Contributions in Harold's memory may be made to Melrose Humane Society, P.O. Box 760668, Melrose, MA. 02176.
