Hilton R. Nickerson, 87 a life-long resident of Melrose, died Saturday evening January 21, 2005 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a brief illness. Hilton was born in Boston, October 5, 1917, son of the late William R. and Hazel M. (Scott) Nickerson. He was a life-long resident of Melrose and was a self-employed Building Contractor for over 30 years.Hilton built several houses in Melrose, Wakefield and the surrounding communities. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Melrose.He and his late wife owned and operated the Charlton Photo Service Company in Melrose for many years.Mr. Nickerson was a volunteer at the Milano Senior Center and was a life-long member of the Mantle Club.He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Hilton was the husband of the late Charlotte (Amazeen) Nickerson and the father of Conrad A. Nickerson and his wife Gail of NH and Richard A. Nickerson of Melrose. Hilton was the brother of the late Marjorie Taylor and he is also survived by 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE Wednesday, January 26 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM.Interment will be at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose, MA.
