Iona was raised in Indiana, Pennsylvania and graduated from Misericoridia Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA.She then moved to Massachusetts where she began a career in nursing.For 23 years, she worked as a Nurse's Assistant at the Normandy House in Melrose.Iona was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Greenwood and Wilmington, and volunteered at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, baking, knitting and loved to travel.
Mrs. Norton was the beloved wife of the late George H. Norton.Devoted mother of William L. Norton and his wife Patricia of Springfield, VA, James E. Norton and his wife Patricia of Maynardville, TN, Elaine M. Ferrari and her husband Stephen of Wilmington, and the late Richard L. Norton.Dear sister of Erma Romasco of Mentor, OH.Cherished grandmother of John Norton, Kathryn Gilmer, Michael Collins, Richard Norton, Jamie Rhymer, Kenneth Ferrari, Richard Ferrari and Kevin Ferrari.Loving great-grandmother of Emily and Christian Norton and Jake, Lauren, Nicholas and Benjamin Ferrari.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Monday, March 15 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
