Mrs. Irene (Kaiser) Lisker, a resident of Melrose and formerly of Brighton, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield after a period of declining health.She was 92 years old.
Mrs. Lisker was born on June 9, 1917 in Boston, one of two children of the late Louis Kaiser and Gertrude (Cohen) Kaiser.
Mrs. Lisker was actively involved in city government for much of her life.She began her career in 1969 at the Allston/Brighton City Hall where she ascended to the position of Manager.She then worked at Boston City Hall as Unit Coordinator of Field Services.She was awarded the Henry L. Shattuck Public Service Award in 1987 for her compassion, leadership and communication skills.Irene worked as a civilian liaison for the Brighton Police Departmant and was a member of the Melrose Police Community.She also worked as a part-time secretary for former City of Melrose Mayor Patrick Guerroro.
She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice "Murray" Lisker with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Elaine Paro of Wakefield and Diane Lisker of Melrose.Dear sister of George Kaiser and his wife Cyma Kaiser of Winthrop.Cherished grandmother of Jon Paro and his wife Staci of Lynn, Lynne Port of Reading, and Michael Paro and his fiancé Shawna Kohout of Wakefield.Loving great-grandmother of Courtney Port, Joshua Paro and Julia Paro.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Tuesday, April 6 at 1:30 PM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Interment in Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon.
