Mrs. Isobel (Ogilvie) Best, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford on February 1, 2012, at the age of 84.
Isobel was born on January 22, 1928, in Lynn, daughter of the late Joseph P. and Ella (Hendry) Ogilvie.She was raised and educated in Lynn where she graduated from Lynn Classical High School.For many years, she worked for Glendale Morton Oil Co. where she retired from in 1994.She was a member of the Boston Street Methodist Church in Lynn where she taught Sunday School.In her leisure time, she loved knitting, baking, reading and history.
Isobel was the beloved wife of the late Donald B. Best with whom she shared 46 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Donald O. Best and his wife Louise of Alton, NH, Margaret L. Frechette of Fitchburg, and Scott W. Best of Malden.Longtime friend of Dana Jewell of Malden.Dear sister of the late Margaret Ogilvie.Cherished grandmother of Amy Best, Kate Best, Phillip Best, Craig Frechette, Andrew Frechette and 2 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Isobel's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Sunday, February 5 from 1-5 PM and again on Monday where her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 12:30 PM.Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
