James Michael Camella, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, formerly of Malden and Everett, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on June 21, 2022 due to heart complications. He was 90 years old.
James was the youngest of three children born to the late Arthur and Mary Geraci Camella on October 10, 1931. Upon graduation from Everett Trade School in 1949, Jim was proud to work alongside his father in the family roofing business, Chesley and Hughes, of Brookline. Jim married his sweetheart Josephine on September 20, 1953.
Together, they made their home in Malden, where they started a family and raised their three children, Denise, Lynne, and Stephen.
Jim and Josephine lived a life filled with loving family members and lifelong friends. They shared wonderful times; vacations, day trips to Connecticut casinos, nights out at dinner dances, cousin club gatherings, and evenings around the kitchen table playing cards. Family dinners filled with Josephine's home cooked Italian food was always the highlight!
Sharing their table with family and friends brought great joy to their lives. Jim and Josephine were always blessed with the friendship of caring and kind neighbors, especially during their later years in their Shelby Circle community.
Jim was proud of his work at Chesley and Hughes and his many partnerships with fellow tradesmen. He was a member of the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife Josephine (Casaccio) Camella. He is survived by his two daughters and son and their families: Denise and Bernard Colbert of Malden and grandson Kyle; Lynne Camella-Murray and husband Stephen of Haverhill, grandson Brian Murray, his wife Jillian, and great granddaughters Addelyn and Emilia of Hudson, granddaughter Stephanie Herbert, her husband Derek, and great grandson William of Methuen, grandson James Murray of Haverhill; and Stephen Camella of Laconia, NH, granddaughter Lauren, and great grandson Beau Henri of Bristol, NH. Brother of the late Josephine Delorey and late Antoinette DelVecchio, James is survived also by his sister-in-law Phyllis D’Addario and loving nieces Angela Lee of Malden, Karen Hoenig of Wakefield, and many nieces, nephews, great nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Jim’s life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, June 24 from 9-11am, followed by his Funeral Service at 11am.
