Mr. James Vincent Garofano of Everett, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 6, 2008 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington surrounded by his loving family. He was 81 years old.
Mr. Garofano was born November 6, 1926 in Everett, a son of the late Euplio Garofano and Tomasina (Pizzano) Garofano.He was the 13th child born of a loving family of 15.
James was a lifelong resident of Everett and graduated from Everett High School.He was the retired President and Owner of Garofano Brothers Inc. & P.A. Milan Trucking Company.He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard during WWII and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.He was Vice Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the City of Everett and was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.Mr. Garofano was very active in fund raising for St. Jude.He also loved gardening and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
He was the beloved husband of Eleanor (Battershall) Garofano with whom he shared 62 years of loving marriage.Devoted and loving father of E. Jean Albano and her husband, Stephen of Amherst, NH, Thomas J. Garofano and his wife, Faye of N. Andover, William J. "Billy" Garofano and his wife, Karen of Stoneham, James V. "Gary" Garofano, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Wakefield, and Eileen M. "EI" Caruso and her husband, Steven of W. Peabody.Cherished grandfather of Alexis Stevenson, Kirsten Hickman, Stephen Albano, Jr., Kerry LeBlanc, Rebecca Letourneau, Thomas "T.J." Garofano, Jr., Taryn Ray, William Garofano, Jr., Samantha Garofano, James V. Garofano, III, Jillian M. Garofano, Steven Caruso, Jr., Victoria Caruso, and Olivia Caruso.Cherished great-grandfather of Ell? Stevenson, Samuel Stevenson, Weston Hickman and Libby LeBlanc.
