James D. Milligan

Mr. James D. Milligan, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2009 surrounded by his loving family at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.He was 56 years of age.Jim Milligan was born on September 5, 1952 in Boston, one of six children of the late Daniel Milligan and Therese (Brennan) Milligan.Mr. Milligan, affectionately known as "Jim", was raised in Boston and New Durham, NH.He graduated from Christopher Columbus Catholic High School in Boston, went on to become a Master Electrician and had been a member of the Local #103 IBEW since 1972.Jim was active with local Melrose youth sports for many years.He enjoyed his involvement with Melrose youth hockey, Incarnation League Baseball, Melrose youth soccer, and Friends of Melrose Football.Jim became a member of the Captains Council at Assumption College where his son was a captain of the football team.Above all else, he was entirely devoted to his family.Jim was the biggest fan of his three sons, Frank, Joe and Pete, who meant everything to him.Jim was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Rinfret) Milligan with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.Devoted father of Frank D. Milligan of Melrose, Joseph J. Milligan of Tamarac, FL and Peter C. Milligan of Melrose.Loving son of the late Daniel Milligan and the late Therese (Brennan) Milligan.Dear son-in-law of Frank P. Rinfret and Barbara (Geary) Rinfret of Saugus.Loving brother of Richard Milligan and his wife Nancy of Saugus, Jerry Milligan and his wife Barbara, Denice Keefe, and Mark Milligan all of Gilford, NH and the late Paul and Diane Milligan. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Saturday, June 27 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in honor and remembrance of Jim's life in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.Gifts in memory of Jim may be made to Friends of Melrose Football, c/o John Mercer, 62 East St., Melrose, MA 02176.
