Mr. James M. "Jim" Wilson, of Saugus and formerly a longtime resident of Somerville, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.He was 83 years old.
James Wilson was born in Boston on June 2, 1926 a son of the late James M. Wilson and Janet (Turnbull) Wilson.
James or "Jim" as he was better known, was raised in Somerville and graduated from the Somerville Public School system.A US Army veteran, he proudly served in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII.For many years, Jim worked as a warehouse foreman and was a member and officer of Local 25 Teamsters.
Throughout his life, he was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing and watching sports.In his younger years, he playedsemi-pro baseball and more recently played in a softball league.Jim was also an especially big hockey fan.
Jim was the beloved husband of Florence G. (Johnson) Wilson with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.Devoted father of James A. Wilson and his wife Joanne of Weymouth, Thomas E. Wilson and his wife Cheryl of Winchester, Mark J. Wilson of Norwood, and Nancy M. Soldano and her husband Joe of Salem, NH.Dear brother of Mary O'Meara of Billerica and Adeline Donahue of Ludlow.Cherished grandfather of Alexandra, Jacquelyn, Scott, Sarah, Shannon, Matthew, Jonathan, Timothy and Matty.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Saturday, September 19 at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in honor and remembrance of Jim at Blessed Sacrament Church, Summer St., Saugus at 11 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 PM.Interment with military honors presented by the US Army will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
