Jane E. (Zwicker) Dolloff

Jane E. (Zwicker) Dolloff, longtime Melrose resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. She was 92.

Born on April 24, 1928 in Medford, Jane is one of three children of the late Ralph B. and Minnie B. (Westhaver) Zwicker of Nova Scotia, Canada. She grew up in Malden and received her nursing degree from Lawrence Memorial Hospital in the late 1940's.

Jane married and moved to Melrose to raise her family. While raising four children, she worked full time as an LPN for 20 years and loved taking care of her patients. Later, she worked as an Office Manager at dental offices in Melrose and Wakefield before fully retiring at age 79.By example, she taught her children and grandchildren the rewards of hard work, caring for others, and most of all love for family.

A woman with a smile that could light up a room and a warm and bubbly personality, Jane endeared herself to her friends, and was a large presence in her adored family. She was a great listener and storyteller, always witty and fun to be around. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and never missed a school function, game, dance recital, or any chance to spend time with them. Her family was her greatest joy.

In her retirement she enjoyed the twice-yearly family get togethers, traveling to Pennsylvania and Nova Scotia to visit family members, and floating in a pool. She also loved to knit.Over the years, she made many baby blankets, sweaters, and hats for her 14 grandchildren and her 18 great grandchildren as well as for children of extended family and friends. However, the one craft she is most well-known for is her hand-knit Christmas Stocking.Over the years she made each of her children, grandchildren, and others an original and beautiful Christmas stocking, truly gifts to be treasured.

Jane also enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing cards, spending time on the beach looking for sand dollars, and baking her family- famous "Half-Way Cookies."In recent years, she enjoyed watching football, and especially loved the Patriots. This past year, however she realized it wasn't the Patriot's team she loved, it was Tom Brady!

Jane's smile, love of life, and love she showed others will be deeply missed by all those blessed to have had her in their life.

Jane was the beloved mother of Eugene Dolloff and his late wife, Denise (Marcoux), and his companion Charlotte of PA, Larry Dolloff and his wife Ginny of Saco, ME, Stephen Dolloff and his wife Stephanie of Bradford, and Susan DeFraia and her husband Joseph of Hampton, NH.Loving sister of the late Ralph Zwicker and Eleanor "Ellie" Kennaday and her surviving husband Jack. Also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
