Mrs. Janet Madden Baldwin, of Peabody and formerly of Wakefield, passed away on Thursday evening, August 4, 2011 at Renaissance Gardens of Brooksby Village in Peabody.She was 82.
Born on August 17, 1928 in Melrose, she was one of two daughters of the late Myron L. Taylor and Marjorie F. (Rudd) Taylor.
Mrs. Baldwin was raised and educated in Melrose.She graduated from Melrose High School in 1946 and received a degree from Garland Junior College in Boston.She married the late John R. Madden on October 18, 1950 and settled in Wakefield to raise their three children.For several years she worked in Wakefield for American Mutual Insurance Co. and later for Wakefield Savings Bank.
After living in Wakefield for most of her life, she moved to Brooksby Village in Peabody for several years and had enjoyed the winter months in Florida.
Janet loved golfing, traveling, going to the beach, and reading.Her family will remember her as a kind and loving mother.
Janet was the beloved wife of Arnold J. Baldwin with whom she shared 18 years of marriage and the late John R. Madden.Devoted mother of Jane M. Richmond and her husband Richard of N. Andover, Christopher J. Madden and his wife Debra of Hopedale, and Peter B. Madden and his wife Marissa of Reading.Dear stepmother of Lee A. Bathelt and her husband John of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jay M. Baldwin and his wife Barbara of Woodbridge, CT.Loving sister of Nancy T. Locke and her husband Leonard of Stoneham.Cherished grandmother of Sarah Richmond, Emily Richmond, John Richmond, Daniel Madden, Brian Madden, Connor Madden, Lauren Bemister, Ashley Happy, Peter B. Madden, Jr, Cynthia Bathelt and Kurt Bathelt.Loving great-grandmother of Joseph and Dylan Happy.Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, Wednesday, August 10 at 10:30 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Interment in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
