Janet E. (Strout) Larkin, of Saugus and formerly of Center Ossipee, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 3, 2024. She was 89.
Born in Freeport, Maine, on November 13, 1934, Janet was one of three children of the late Basil and Edith (Ellison) Strout. She was raised in Freeport until her teenage years, Janet later settled in Saugus, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and embraced the community. After graduating from Saugus High School in 1955, she married her beloved David L. Larkin on June 2, 1957, embarking on a journey defined by love, mutual respect, and shared dreams.
Together, Janet and David raised their family in Saugus before transitioning to Center Ossipee, New Hampshire, where they founded Larkin Welding, a testament to their dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. In the quiet corners of Center Ossipee, Janet's warmth and humility shone brightly, touching the lives of all who had the privilege to know her.
Known for her unwavering strength and innate ability to face any challenge head-on, Janet was a dynamic force of love and compassion. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she cherished moments spent caring for her adored grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will live on through generations.
An avid reader and a lover of travel. Her presence lit up any room, drawing people in with an effortless charm and a gentle kindness that was truly unparalleled.
Her memory will forever remain etched in our hearts.
Janet was the beloved wife of David L. Larkin with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Devoted mother of the late David B. Larkin, Steven R. Larkin of Florida, Lisa Peterson and her husband Mark of Saugus. Loving sister of Carl Strout and his late wife Pamela, and the late Lewis Strout and his surviving wife Marilyn. Cherished grandmother of David, Christiana, Constantina, Mariah, Jennifer, Erik, and Heather. Adored great-grandmother of twelve. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather during visiting hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, March 14, from 4-6PM where her Funeral Service will be held at 6pm.
Gifts in her memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
