Janet M. (Borgal) Wharf, resident of Georgetown, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at a Woburn healthcare facility.She was 84.
Janet was born in Wakefield, October 21, 1936, daughter of the late George Borgal and Marie (Bissett) Borgal. Janet attended Wakefield public schools and was a former resident of Saugus, MA.
Janet was first and foremost a mother to four boys. She worked as a bank teller at Pioneer Bank for many years. Janet was her happiest while surrounded by family and friends. The holidays and times spent at Balch Lake were her times of joy. She was passionate about life and family. She enjoyed gardening, dancing and her luncheons while playing a few rounds of Keno. She loved watching her New England sports teams and rooted louder than most. A sunset boat cruise at the lake with her favorite cocktail in hand surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and don't forget her grand puppy Bentley. Her world was her family, and she was proud of every one of them and them of her.
Janet leaves her beloved companion James Vincent Barbaro.She was also a loving wife to the late Reginald Richards and the late Neal Wharf.Devoted mother of Kevin Richards and his companion Monica Chouinard of Georgetown, Barry Richards and his late companion Jane Hockman of Scituate, David Richards and his wife Beth of Plaistow, NH, and Paul Wharf and his companion Debbie Inglesi of Franklin, MA. Dear sister of the late Nancy Sawyer and her husband Donald of Berwick, ME, Thomas W. Borgal and his wife Valerie of Tewksbury, and Donald C. Borgal and his wife Mary of Houston, TX and many nieces and nephews as well as her childhood friend Jane Smalley of Lisbon, NH. Cherished grandmother of Kristen Richards and Gregory Richards and his wife Mariana, and ever so proud great-grandmother of Sienna and Xander Richards and her beloved grand puppy Bentley.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, Feb. 19 from 4-7pm. All attendees are required to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and pay their respects and exit the Funeral Home promptly to allow other guests to enter. A limited number of guests will be allowed in the building at one time. Janet's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Saturday at 1pm. Interment will be private.
