Mrs. Jeannette C. (Poole) Stanley, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Friday, March 21, 2014, at age 86.
Jeannette was born on November 10, 1927 in Jamaica Plain, one of two daughters of the late James E. Poole and Nellie (Webster) Poole.
Raised and educated in Saugus, Jeannette was active in the local community.She was involved with the Girl Scouts and Camp Fire, the Drum Corps at the Lt. Norman Prince VFW Post, and an active member of the East Saugus Methodist Church.Jeannette also enjoyed crafts, and was a member of several crafts organizations in the area.Perhaps her favorite activity was getting together with friends and playing bridge.She belonged to many bridge groups, and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and family throughout her life.
Jeannette was the beloved wife of the late Clarence "Murray" Stanley, Jr. (Ret. Fire Chief, City of Melrose) with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Jane C. Pascucci and her husband Ambrose of Revere, and Lynn Routhier and her husband Michael of Salem, NH. Dear sister of the late Barbara F. Schutz. Cherished grandmother of Ambrose Pascucci of the North End, Carlo Pascucci of Revere, Benny Carrasco of Hawaii, and Derek Carrasco and his wife Amy of Methuen. Loving great-grandmother of Isabel and Evan Carrasco. Also survived by Anne and Charlie Bennett and their children Meghan and John Bennett, all of Melrose, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Jeannette's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, March 26 from 5-8 PM, and again for her Funeral Service celebrated on Thursday at 10AM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Melrose Fireman's Relief Association, 576 Main St. Melrose, MA 02176.
