Mrs. Joan M. (Condon) Kneath, a resident of Melrose since 1957, passed away peacefully at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Monday, April 18, 2016, at age 93.
Joan was born in Malden on November 5, 1922, one of six children of the late Thomas J. Condon and Lena (Wedge) Condon. She graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Brighton, and was married in 1953 before settling in Melrose to raise her family. Joan worked as a Secretary for Novel Ironworks in Malden for 20 years, retiring in 1983.
Joan was a loving family woman with simple needs in life. She enjoyed knitting, traveling with her late husband to Canada, Hawaii and Bermuda, reading, and watching her favorite show, "Wheel of Fortune."In her free time, she played the piano, and spent time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Proud of her Canadian roots, Joan often fondly reminisced ofchildhood memories spent at the summer cottage in Nova Scotia with her parents and brothers and sisters. In Melrose, she was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church for many years.
Mrs. Kneath was beloved wife of the late Richard W. Kneath with whom she shared 36 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Joan M. Delorie and her late husband Ralph of Melrose. Dear sister of Robert Condon of Dover, NH, Roderick Condon of Manchester, NH, and the late Anne Carleton, Patricia Walton, and Dorothy Amirault. Cherished grandmother of Dr. Ralph Delorie and his wife Cathleen of Hingham, and Andrea Delorie of Marblehead. Proud great-grandmother of Delia, Catherine and Sean.
