Mrs. Joan (Lyons) Mullen, of Saugus, passed away at home on Sunday, January 11, 2009 with her loving family at her bedside.She was 78 years old.
Mrs. Mullen was born June 28, 1930 in Chicopee, a daughter of the late Arthur B. Lyons and Kathryn (Bagley) Lyons.
Joan was raised in Chicopee where she graduated from Holy Name High School.She graduated from Melrose - Wakefield Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse, working in many area nursing homes throughout her career.She was a former Director of the North Shore Convalescent Home in Saugus and worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the nursing home division.Mrs. Mullen loved sewing, knitting, and her dear and beloved family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Francis W. Mullen.Loving and devoted mother of Kathryn P. Forbes and her husband John of Saugus, Maureen F. Larkin and her husband Allan of Medford, Eileen L. Robbins and her husband Marshall of Lynn, Christine E. D'Eon and her husband John of Saugus, and Francis W. "Frank" Mullen, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Hudson, NH.Joan was the youngest of 14 brothers and sisters: the late George McQueen, William McQueen, James McQueen, Edward McQueen, Cyril McQueen, Alice Klein, Kay Watson, Grace Ryan, Mary R. McDermott, Margaret Ross, Ann E. Smith, Arthur B. Lyons Jr., and John J. Lyons.Cherished grandmother of David Forbes, Eileen O'Connell, Scott Larkin, Kerry Fichera, Adam Larkin, Joel Robbins, Erin Robbins, Jason Robbins, Amanda D'Eon, Corporal Katelyn D'Eon USMC, Rick Ward, and Paul Mullen.Loving great-grandmother of Nevaeh Larkin, Reagyn Fishman-Larkin, Stephen Fichera, and William Fichera.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
