Mrs. Joan (Landon) Polleys, a Melrose resident since 1969, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at her longtime home.She was 74 years old.
Joan was born on September 29, 1936 in Burlington, Vermont, one of two daughters of the late Winchell J. Landon and Minnie A. (Edwards) Landon.
Mrs. Polleys was raised in Dorchester where she graduated from Dorchester High School.She worked in the Admitting Office at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for 30 years.Joan was an animal lover and enjoyed providing a home for homeless cats.
She was the beloved wife of the late Donald E. Polleys with whom she shared 39 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Kenneth D. Polleys of Melrose and Kristine A. McLeod and her husband David of Methuen.Dear sister of the late Patricia Cook.
Funeral Service at the First Baptist Church, 561 Main St., Melrose on Monday, January 3 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Sunday from 2-6 PM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
