Mrs. Joanne G. (Santoro) DeMato, a resident of Everett, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2009 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston after a period of declining health.She was 76 years old.Mrs. DeMato was born on August 28, 1933 in Melrose.She was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School.In 1952, she moved with her husband Michael to Everett where they raised their family and became active in the local community.She volunteered at the Everett Council of Aging and was a member of the Board. She was a proud homemaker, mother of 5 children and 10 grandchildren, and loved to dance.
Joanne was the beloved wife of Michael F. DeMato Jr with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.Loving daughter of the late John Santoro and Louise (DiGiammarino) Santoro.Devoted mother of Mickey DeMato and his wife Joanne of Everett, Robert DeMato and his wife Lauren of E. Boston, Michelle Carr and her husband Paul of Everett, David DeMato and his wife Michele of Everett, and Paul DeMato and his wife Angela of Everett. Dear sister of Terry Ingalls of Revere, Robert Santoro of Stoneham, and the late Mary Santoro, Phyllis Santoro, Anthony Santoro, Alfred Santoro, and Henry Joseph Santoro. Dear sister-in-law of Barbara Santoro of Stoneham, Judy Santoro of Medford, Jeanne Santoro of Malden and the late Mary Santoro, Virginia Santoro, Gene Ingalls, Anthony DeMato, and Robert DeMato.Loving daughter-in-law of the late Michael DeMato Sr. and Bena DeMato.Cherished grandmother of Christian DeMato, Jenna Hebert, Michael DeMato, Ashley DeMato, Jade DeMato, Heather Davis, James Carr, Scott DeMato, Stephen DeMato and Taryn DeMato.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Saturday, October 24 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in honor and celebration of Joanne's life in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
