John R. Blutt, 66 of Melrose, a mechanical engineer, died Wednesday morning, June 22, 2005 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading. Mr. Blutt was born May 25, 1939 in Sioux City, Iowa, son of the late Jacob Blutt and Florence (Brence) Blutt. Mr. Blutt graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1961 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and belonged to Phi Kappa Theta.For 25 years John was the owner and operator of Laser Industries and for the past 10 years he was the owner of Mithra Engineering.He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the Small Business Association of New England. John and his wife Nancy L. (Whitman)Blutt shared 42 years of marriage.He was the father of John R. Blutt, Jr. and his wife Amy of Dracut, Elizabeth A. "Beth" Blutt of Ayer, Michael A. Blutt and his wife, Wendy of Milton, and Stephen R. Blutt and his wife Christina of Manchester, NH. He was the brother of Dorothy McDonald of Sierra Vista, AZ, David Blutt of Sioux City, IA, Janice Beckenbach of Melrose, FL and the late Donald Blutt. Also survived by 6 grandchildren.
