John J. Brennan, 84
of Wakefield, a retired printer, died at the Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Melrose Saturday evening March 5, 2005.
John was born in Melrose on August 11, 1920, son of the late Michael J. Brennan and Margaret (Morgan) Brennan.John was raised in Melrose, attended the Melrose Public Schools and had lived in Wakefield for the past 44 years.For over 30 years he was a Printer with the Henry Sawyer Printing Company in Boston.He was a World War II Navy Veteran serving aboard the Destroyer USS Smith 378 as a Torpedo man 2nd Class. John participated in many wartime operations including the liberation of POWS from Japan at the close of the war.He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the United States Navy Ancient Order of the Deep.
John was the loving husband of Marie J. (Young) Brennan.Father of Michael W.Brennan and his wife Susan of Derry, NH., Stephen P. Brennan and his wife Ginny of Wakefield andMargaret A. Banasand her husband Matthew of Atlanta, GA.Brother of Elizabeth Bailey of Melrose and the late Richard M. Brennan. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSEWednesday March 9 at 10 AM.Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Main St. Wakefield at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8 PM.
Interment will be in the VANational Cemetery in Bourne, MA
