John J. Hogan, 78 of Melrose died at home on Friday morning May 13, 2005. John was the beloved husband of Mary (Barron) Hogan. He was the devoted father of Nancy Hogan of Boston, Marilyn "Lyn" Doran and her husband Stephenof North Reading, Joann O'Keefe and her husband Patrick of Greenland, NH., Thomas Hogan and his wife Christine of Sandwich, and Matthew Hogan of Melrose. He was the lovinggrandfather of John, Alexandra, Luke and Peter O'Keefe, Amanda, Sara, and James Doran and Katherine "Katie" and Thomas John "TJ" Hogan.He is also survived by his brother Michael Hogan of Stuart, FL, and County Tipperary, Ireland and many nieces and nephews.He is predeceased by siblings, Mary, Thomas, Catherine and Matthew. Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Tuesday, May 17 at 10 AM.Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 11 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hoursMonday 3-8 PM.Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.He worked for many years as a Power Plant Engineer at the Salem Harbour Powerplant, Salem, MA.John was born in County Roscommon, Ireland.He left Ireland at 18, and worked in England for 10 years. In 1955 He came to America to be best man at his brother Michael's wedding. He never returned to England.He became a citizen in 1961 and never missed an election until ill health forced him to vote by absentee ballot in the last Presidential Election.He loved America and whenever someone upon hearing his brogue would ask, "What County are you from" he would always reply, "Middlesex".Gifts in his memory may be made to the VNA of Middlesex East, 607 North Ave. Suite 17, Wakefield, MA01880.
