John C. "Nick" Manganaro

John C. "Nick" Manganaro, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at age 91.

Nick was born in Chelsea on October 20, 1933, son of the late John and Caroline (Dinardi) Manganaro. Raised and educated in Melrose, Nick met fellow Melrose native Barbara Gentile and they were married in 1951. They settled in Melrose to raise a family of two children. Nick was a master stone mason, providing expert masonry construction for many years to local customers.

Nick found joy and comfort in the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. For over 50 years, he enjoyed fishing trips out to Stellwagen Bank accompanied by his son, John, grandchildren, and his favorite Bob Seger tunes. He also enjoyed the thrill of hunting, traveling to Northern New England and into Canada for big game hunting with his friends from Melrose.

Closer to home, Nick took pride in always being involved in the lives of his 9 grandchildren who he adored, and loved each of his many dogs named "Coco."

Nick was a well known, respected, and well-liked presence in Melrose. He developed strong connections with friends, and spent almost every morning with his many buddies at the local coffee shop. His integrity, genuine good spirit, and dedication to family will be his legacy. May he rest in peace.

Nick was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Gentile) Manganaro with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Devoted father of John P. Manganaro and his wife Diane of Melrose, and Donna Keefe and her husband Ed of Amesbury. Cherished grandfather of Jonathan Manganaro, Jacquelyn Manganaro, Joshua Manganaro, Jennifer Bushee, Richard Bushee, Michelle Bushee, Edwad Keefe, Ronald Keefe, and Daniel Keefe. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather in honor of Nick's life at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose, for his Funeral Mass celebrated on Friday, February 14 at 10am.
