Mr. John L. "Jack" McBride, of Melrose and formerly of Dorchester, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday afternoon, November 9, 2008.He was 76 years old.
He was born in Aberdeen, Washington on May 27, 1932, a son of the late Lawrence J. McBride and Gladys (Stover) McBride.
John or "Jack" as he was known, was raised in Washington and graduated from Ocosta High School in Ocosta, WA.He resided in Dorchester until moving to Melrose.In his working career, he was employed at Eastern Uniform, Bonanno Linnen and Cintas.He was a member of the Irish American Club and the Eagles.He ran Keno at Highland Caf? in Malden.Jack loved reading and western movies.He was a Disabled American Vet of US Navy serving in the Korean Conflict.
Jack was the loving husband of Mary T. (Caruso) McBride with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.Devoted father of Karen Carpenter and her husband Larry of Attleboro, John McBride, Jr. and his wife Robin of Alfred, ME, Marianne Ballerini and her husband Thomas of Auburn, NH, Brenda Hansen-Fortune and her husband Jeff of Bedford, NH and the late Joanne McBride. Dear brother of Cheryl Geise, Karen Spaulding both of WA, and the late Marjorie Anderson, Patricia Billings and Dale Moody.Also lovingly survived by 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
