John J. Redmond, Jr.

John J. Redmond, Jr. longtime resident of Medford, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at a Melrose healthcare facility. He was 68.

Born in Cambridge on March 7, 1954, John was one of eight children of the late John J. and Madeline T. (Fitzgerald) Redmond, Sr. He grew up in Everett graduating from Everett High School in 1972. He received his bachelor's degree in Fire Science from Boston State College.

John married his beloved Pat on November 29, 1985, and they went on to share many wonderful years together.

John worked at Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Bank which became Mellon Bank. He retired as an Assistant Vice President after 25 years of service.

John was a former Everett Fire Commissioner, former President of the Everett Fire Auxiliary, enjoyed building model fire engines, playing golf, model railroading, listening to the scanner, and baking and cooking. John and Pat also enjoyed regular trips to the Caribbean.

John will be missed by all.

John was the beloved husband of Priscilla "Pat" (Tuells) Redmond with whom he shared 37 years of marriage. Devoted step-father of Kimberly DiMascio of Delray Beach, FL. Dear brother of Patrice Chiavelli and her husband Stephen of Wakefield, Joyce Crary and her husband Bruce of Newburyport, Mary Redmond of Stoneham, Paul Redmond and his wife Patricia of Wakefield, Beth McDonough and her husband Timothy of Westwood, and the late Barry W. Redmond and James J. Redmond.

Relatives & friends are invited to gather in honor John’s life during visiting hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 4-7pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to the Everett Fireman's Relief Association, Everett Fire Department, Attn: Sean Hogan or Derek Peretti, 384 Broadway, Everett, MA. 02149.
