Mr. John S. Jack Turner, of Melrose, died Thursday, March 22, 2007 in Epoch Senior Healthcare of Melrose after an illness. He was 94 years old.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Alberta M. (Petravich) Turner; two nephews, William Ploof of Beaver Dam, Virginia, Richard Ploof of Hollis, New Hampshire; one niece, Sandra Ploof of Ashland, Virginia; a grand-niece, Christine Ploof and one great-grand nephew, Timothy.
Jack was born May 27, 1912 in Bristol, England, son of the late Elijah George and Elizabeth (Smith) Turner and came to the United States as a young child. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Turner. He and his wife, Alberta, lived in Wakefield for over 20 years and in Melrose for over 33 years. He graduated from Bentley Business School.
Mr. Turner was an insurance underwriter for Commercial Union Insurance Co., now One Beacon Insurance Co. for many years, retiring in 1970. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Melrose.
