John A. Veronelli, of Burlington, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. Born on February 16, 1966, in Boston, Massachusetts, John was one of four children of John H. and Patricia (Carey) Veronelli. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1984. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and later went on and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. John held many positions in the IT industry over the years. He met his wife, Karen, working side-by-side at Monetrics early on and had gathered many friends along the way. Most recently, John worked as a Senior Software Developer at TSD Mobility Solutions in Andover.
John's greatest joy in life came from being a loving husband to Karen and a devoted father to their two children, Aidan and Sienna. He always prioritized their happiness and well-being. Whether it was attending his children's events, sharing special family moments, or supporting their dreams, John was there with open arms and an unwavering presence.
From an early age, he loved being immersed in science-fiction; he especially loved Star Wars. He took such great joy in sharing epic Sci-Fi tales with his family, in fact it was woven heavily into another of his loves, travel. He was an avid traveler with a sense of adventure that took him to new places. John really loved Disney. He loved theme parks and rides and sharing that with his family brought him tremendous joy. John's enthusiasm for Disney extended beyond the theme parks - he cherished the intricate artistry of building LEGO sets inspired by his favorite characters and stories.
John’s presence will be deeply missed, but his impact will forever resonate within the hearts of all who were privileged to know him. John was the beloved husband of Karen (Engelman) Veronelli with whom he shared 18 years of marriage. Devoted father of Aidan R. and Sienna M. Veronelli. Cherished son of John H. and Patricia N. (Carey) Veronelli of Melrose. Loving brother of Donna M. Veronelli and her husband Gary Ghika of Saugus, Andrew J. Veronelli and his wife Jessica of Haverhill, and Ann M. Veronelli of Newburyport. John also leaves behind his brother-in-law Kevin Engelman and his wife Rhona of Cambridge.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews – Isabella Scannell and her fiancé, Kyle Lussier, Dennis Scannell, Sofia Engelman and her wife, Em Papineau, and Alexander Engelman. John is predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Carl and Doris Engelman and his loving sister-in-law, Jessica Engelman.
Family and friends are invited to gather in honor of John’s life during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Monday, February 19 from 4-7 PM, and again on Tuesday at 9 AM before leaving in procession to Incarnation Church, 429 Upham St., Melrose, for his Funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
