Mr. John A. "Jack" Wilson, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.He was 63.
John A. Wilson was born on June 14, 1947 in Everett, one of three children of John A. Wilson and the late Amelia (VanCamfort) Wilson.
John, or "Jack" as he was lovingly known, was raised in Arlington.He graduated from Arlington High School and Salem State College where he also received his Masters Degree.Mr. Wilson was a U.S. History teacher at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School for 15 years.He also worked for Putnam Investments retiring as Vice President of Internal Communications.
As a longtime educator and history teacher, Mr. Wilson's passion was learning and teaching United States history.Throughout his life, Jack loved reading numerous history books and enjoyed learning about politics and U.S. Presidents.He was also a family man who loved spending time with his wife, two children and especially his five grandchildren.
Jack was the beloved husband of Diane C. (Struthers) Wilson with whom he shared 39 years of marriage.Cherished son of John A. Wilson of Arlington and the late Amelia Wilson.Devoted father of Meridith Ross and her husband Kenneth of Salem, NH and Matthew J. Wilson and his wife Lauren of Amesbury.Dear brother of Joyce Wilson of Woburn and Nancy Leach of West Bend, WI.Loving grandfather of Allison, Lauren, Erin, & Patrick Ross and Ryan Jack Wilson.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, December 1 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in loving honor of Jack's life in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield, at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 PM.Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.Gifts in his memory may be made to the Jack Wilson Memorial Scholarship, c/o Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, 485 Lowell St., Peabody, MA 01960.
