Jonathan H. Winer
Mr. Winer was born in Abington, Pennsylvania on November 30, 1951.He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1973 and received a Juris Doctor degree from New York University in 1976.He worked for Nixon Hargrave, a law firm in Rochester, New York, before settling in Burlington, VT with his family.He worked for many years at Green Mountain Power and later for Mountain Energy.More recently Mr. Winer had worked in Boston for the energy consulting firms, LaCapra Associates and Essex Power Services.
While residing in Burlington, VT for 20 years, he became an active member of the community.He served as President of the synagogue at Temple Sinai in South Burlington and enjoyed the time he served as the Director of the Vermont State Scholastic Chess Tournament.During his leisure time, Jonathan loved photography, chess, skiing, traveling, people, and was an avid runner.
Jonathan was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Winters) Winer with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.Loving son of David Winer and Janet (Ratner) Winer of Shelburne, VT.Devoted father of Steven M. Winer and Rachel L. Winer both of Melrose.Dear brother of Michael Winer of Portland, OR, Gordon Winer of Calgary, Canada, and Laura Steele of North Kingstown, RI.Caring brother-in-law of Gail S. Winters of Rochester, NY.Dear son-in-law of Margaret W. Winters of Rochester, NY and the late Sanford Winters.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose will be held privately.Gifts in Jonathan's honor may be made to the Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Dr., Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203 (www.nature.org).
