Mr. Joseph B. Tole of Melrose died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 following a period of declining health.
Mr. Tole was born December 4, 1918 in Arlington, son of the late Joseph A. Tole and Florence (Sullivan) Tole.
He was raised in Stoneham, graduating from Stoneham High School in 1938.He was a graduate of Mass Art and the Vesper George Art School and worked as a commercial artist at the Boston Globe from 1945 - 1991.He served in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of the Saugus VFW Post.He created beautiful water colors and had won several awards.He was an avid Left hand golfer.
He was the beloved husband of the late Natalie C. (McClellan) Tole.Step-father of Carol A. Selig and her husband, Don of Tewksbury.Grandfather of Mark Selig and his wife, Nancy and Jill Murray and her husband, Michael, all of North Reading, Beth Devereaux and her husband, Edward of Merrimack, NH and Curt Selig of Melrose.Brother of Barbara Bouno of Woburn and the late Arthur Tole, John Tole and Dot O'Brien.Also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
