June M. (Tuell) Cameron, of Derry, NH., and formerly of Melrose and West Newbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Aurora Senior Living on Derry.She was 92.
June was born in Melrose on April 9, 1926, one of three children of the late Ivan and Erma (Gould) Tuell.She grew up in Melrose living at the Tuell Nursing Home, the facility that her mother Erma founded.A 1944 graduate of Melrose High School, June enjoyed taking the lead parts in school performances, and developed her love of singing and music.
On June 8, 1946, June married Richard S. Cameron.They met through Richard's sister, Ruth, who was her lifelong friend.Ruth sadly passed away on January 10.June and Richard would settle in Melrose to raise their family.He passed away in 1976.
June carried her love of music with her throughout her life.She was an accomplished Solo Soprano, Pianist, Pipe Organist, and was highly sought after in the area.Her life was filled with the joy of music, and when not playing or singing at an event, she could be found around the house playing the piano and singing for relaxation.
June's family meant everything to her.She was really active in their lives growing up, and she was with her grandchildren as well.June had a wonderful sense of humor, and her family was a great source of joy and amusement for her.
One of June's other desires was to help others in need.She was the go to person for the family.She took care of her mother, enjoyed taking care of children, even going as far as opening a Child Care center at the Universalist Church in Melrose with her friend.
Other interests of June's were books.She loved reading, especially books about Maine where a lot of her family was from.She worked as a Librarian for Pentucket School in West Newbury for a number of years.She enjoyed traveling to Maine to visit family and friends.Maine always had a special place in her heart.She was also a member of the Universalist Church in Melrose for a number of years.
June was a special lady.Her friendly demeanor and inner strength and willpower in the face of adversity taught her family a lot, and they will carry those memories, plus many more great memories with them through the years.She will be deeply missed.
June was the beloved wife of the late Richard S. Cameron with whom she shared 30 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Jeffrey R. Cameron and his wife Virginia of Haverhill, Ronald T. Cameron and his wife Debbie Aliff of Nahant, Mark A. Cameron of Derry, NH., and Jonathan G. Cameron and his wife Maggie Jimenez of Wilmington.Dear sister of David Tuell and his wife Gloria of FL., and the late Ivan Tuell.Cherished grandmother of Richard, Edward, Andrew, Amanda, Kate, John, and great grandmother of Charlotte.Also survived by former daughter-in-law Brenda Cameron of Nashua, NH.
Relatives & friends will gather in honor and remembrance of June's life for her Funeral Service celebrated at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 10am.Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
