Jurek S. “Dick” Zieba, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at age 72.

Jurek was born in Darmstadt, Germany on March 3, 1950, one of nine children of the late Stanislaw Zieba and Mathilde C. (Bender) Zieba. Raised and educated in Germany, he immigrated to the United States at age 15. He was married to Pauline Cyr on October 25, 1970, and they settled in Malden to raise their family.

He dedicated himself to his working life in order to provide the best for his family. With a talent for cooking, he worked in food service at Harvard University, and the Marriot Hotels for many years. With the help of wife, Pauline and his daughters, he also owned and operated “Barbara’s Kitchen” in Arlington for several years. In his free time, Dick was an an avid reader, loved bowling, and music.

Above all, Dick was a genuinely good person to his friends and family. He was always willing to help, and willingly shared his time and efforts for the benefit of his family. He will be deeply and sorely missed, but his generous heart, and selfless nature will live on in the hearts of his family. May he rest in peace.

Dick was the beloved husband of Pauline M. Zieba with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Devoted father of Kristine Chirichiello of Malden, Janet Zieba and her partner Kenneth Strum of Peabody, Cheryl Zieba of FL, Monica Zieba of Saugus, and the late Yvonne Zieba. Dear brother of Daniel Sheehan, Ronny Sheehan, John Sheehan, Christiana Sheehan, Edith Teves, and the late Klaus Zieba, Michael Sheehan, and Monika Zieba.
